SPROUTING PLATE

Sprouting plate is born out of care for nature and animal.
Disposable tableware products are made from nature's many raw materials such as Gurgum, Aqar- agar, Cocount husk and seed etc.

* The story behind project

The project titled “Going Back to Nature with Disposable Table Wares” has been initiated in February 2016 from the field trip to India. Despite my first trip to India, I was stunned to see the heap of garbage and disposable being directly dumped on the street and into the river. One day during my trip, I somehow spotted the old lady with a peaceful smile, putting all the food leftovers into a disposable container and throwing out to the cow on the street. Rather than facing with a reality to see the garbage being left over on the street after the cow left, it was even more surprising for me to remind of the old lady who had uncon- sciously committed this action with such a generous smile on her face.

There is an interesting story behind many people in India just throw out the disposables after being used, and even the garbage onto the street as well. In fact, it is related to eco-friendly disposable tablewares which have been directly made and used by Indians for quite a long time. There had been times in the past when Indians solely used the disposable tablewares, mostly made up of eco-friendly substances such as banana leaves, soil and bamboos. Chai cups, for instance, were made with speckled clay on a pottery which people could simply shatter and throw away to the ground after they finished drinking. This had been possible due to a biodegradable feature of all the disposables, which emitted no pollution to the ground and could easily be eaten by the wild animals. Here, I thought to myself that even throwing out the garbage could get interesting without causing environmental pollution.

This eventually has brought up with the idea to design disposable table wares, which actually could provide nourishment to the nature even after being thrown out to the ground. From that point, I had firmly decided to design such disposables that could convince me and justify the action taken by the old lady.

If you can just pay a little attention, India has not been the only case for this issue.
Nowadays, most of customers are purchasing the disposals made up of a plastic. Even if they are aware of how this plastic will cause pollution to the ground, it is most likely for them to just use the plastic disposals.
I hope that many people can realize that these food disposals and table wares are highly eco-friendly, which can be biodegraded to into the ground without causing any pollution.
The garden in my house will have a same result if I happen to throw them out to the grass. From this, we may carefully think about our unconscious and problematic habit of purchasing the plastic disposals.
